The North Village Art Walk, a program of The North Village Arts District (501c3 organization) invites artists, to apply for public art murals and sculpture projects in the North Village Arts District, Columbia Missouri. We seek an artist or artist team to create site-specific, murals and sculptures.
The projects are being implemented with funding from (but not limited to) a gift from the Veterans United Foundation. At this point, artists should submit qualifications only, not a design proposal. After finalists are selected, they will be invited to create design proposals.
We are not asking for specific designs at this time, but rather creating a database for artists interested in participating. The project is ongoing and will be implemented over several years. Please submit even if this project isn’t the best one for you! Your submitted information will be on file for future projects as well as this first installation.
ABOUT THE AREA
Preparation is underway for the installation of Special art projects, Sculpture, and Murals, throughout the arts district. There are many locations of different proportions in the area to install murals and sculptures.
Sculpture Project
We would like to kick off the Sculpture project with an installation approximately 10’ tall and no more than 5’ wide. This can include an ample base. The location is the Walnut Street Patio shared by The Atrium, Serendipity Salon & Gallery, and Artworks studio. Electricity for lighting is already in place. A generous donation for an easement has been given to the North Village Art Walk for this installation. BUDGET: Once the artist(s) is selected to move forward with the project, the budget for the sculpture project is 12,000 to $15,000.
Mural Project
Tentative locations. Please send information so we will have you in our database. See application information below. BUDGET: The budget for mural projects is based on each project. Payment will include all artist fees, insurance, materials, fabrication, installation, etc.
ARTIST ELIGIBILITY
The project is open to all artists and artist teams, 18 years and older.
All applicants, regardless of race, sex, religion, nationality, origin, or disability, will be considered.
ARTIST SELECTION PROCESS
The North Village Art Walk Committee – made up of artists, arts professionals, and community representatives – will review applications and choose finalists. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of artistic and technical merit and strength.
